On November 7, during the creative workshop: Marine Social Research: Present and Future of Science, Creativity, and Participation for the Ocean,” the new video documentary “CoSea. Critical Visions from the Sea,” produced by Raw-News Visual Production Agency and directed by Federico Fornaro, premieres at Sapienza University of Rome – MEMOTEF Department.

The documentary has been directed and filmed by Federico Fornaro, with the photographic support of Giuseppe Lupinacci and with the scientific project coordination of Chiara Certomà, MEMOTEF department of Sapienza university of Rome.

The visual work unveils the voices and testimonies of those who experience firsthand the fragile and complex relationship between the coast and the ocean. The documentary traces a clear connection between global marine challenges — such as plastic pollution and coastal erosion — and their local manifestations in the Gulf of Anzio, exploring how citizens perceive and live these realities. Through interviews, field investigations, and documentary work, multiple critical issues emerge: discharge and outflow points, water quality concerns, coastline alterations, and the social uses of the sea under increasing pressure.

The visual production is based on the research conducted by the CO>SEA research group, supported by the project CoSea_Lab (Third Mission Funds of the Sapienza University of Rome) and the collaboration of the EU Horizon project PartArt4OW,

with the scientific research elaborated by Chiara Certomà, Caterina Pozzobon, Luca Bertocci, Tommaso Valente, Chiara Salari and Amedeo Boldrini,
